Some car shapes need no introduction. Build a Cobra-style roadster, a boxy BMW M3 E30, a Mercedes 190E Evo II or an early Golf GTI, then park it beside the next chapter in your collection. Classic car building sets also bring vintage campers and older Japanese favourites, including Skyline and Supra models, into the same garage.

The pleasure is in the details that make an older design recognisable: an upright cabin, round headlights, a simple grille or a distinctive rear wing. Choose a compact shelf model or a larger build that gives you more of the cabin and chassis to explore.

Follow a favourite decade, recreate a car you remember or collect several interpretations of one icon. Check each model's scale, piece count and opening or mechanical features before choosing your next build.
